Job Purpose

You make paydays happen—but who’s got your back?

Stuck fixing timecard chaos, Chasing last-minute approvals and Buried in manual fixes?

You’re not alone. Too many payroll specialists are treated like data entry clerks—and “thank you” isn’t even in the vocabulary. At Wisenbaker, we know that paying people right isn’t just accounting—it’s trust.

That’s why we built this role for experienced payroll professionals who are ready to take ownership, not orders.

Your Mission:

Own, perfect, and protect our payroll process.

As our Payroll Specialist, you’ll take full ownership of the payroll process from start to finish. You’ll drive accuracy, stay ahead of compliance risks, and be the go-to expert for all things pay-related. You won’t just process pay—you’ll improve systems, spot issues before they become problems, and keep us in compliance from check to check.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3 - 5+ years of payroll experience in a fast-paced, multi-state environment (manufacturing preferred)
  • Deep knowledge of wage and hour laws, tax regs, and payroll best practices
  • Skilled in major payroll platforms (Paylocity, Workday, Paycom, etc.)
  • Clear communicator who can explain payroll issues to anyone—from shop floor to senior leadership
  • Obsessed with accuracy, detail, and deadlines
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus!

Qualifications & Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll processing or related roles for companies with 500+ employees.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex) and MS Excel.
  • Understanding of federal and state payroll regulations.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Discreet, able to handle confidential and proprietary information appropriately.
  • High level of integrity.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
