Job Purpose

Tired of Watching Companies “Check the Box” While the Environment Gets Ignored?
Lead the Change Where It Actually Matters — On the Floor.

If you’re an Environmental pro tired of being sidelined, underfunded, or treated like a box-checker instead of a change-maker, Wisenbaker is your shot to rewrite the script. As Wisenbaker Site Environmental Specialist, you’ll take full ownership of environmental compliance — not from behind a desk, but right in the heart of the operation.

We’re not looking for someone to quietly maintain paperwork — we’re looking for someone who can walk the floor, lead the charge, and make sure no environmental risk ever goes unseen, ignored, or unresolved. This isn’t an entry-level gig — if you’ve wrestled with permits, wrangled audits, and lived to tell the tale, we want you.

Your Mission:

From air permits to wastewater and hazardous waste, you’ll lead the environmental standards that keep our people, our planet, and our reputation protected. You won’t just track what’s happening — you’ll build systems, fix problems, and own the outcome.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing (and Taking Full Command Of):

  • Own all written environmental programs — from hazard surveys and inspection logs to PPE specs, training, labeling, certifications, calibrations, and annual effectiveness reviews.
  • Maintain full compliance with TCEQ NSR Permits, SWPPP, RCRA/DOT, and coating logs — keeping everything clean, documented, and audit-ready.
  • Lead regular floor walkthroughs and site audits to spot risks, ensure environmental protocols are followed, and drive real corrective action.
  • Investigate environmental incidents, uncover root causes, and implement changes that prevent repeat issues — no cover-ups, just solutions.
  • Train and mentor all levels of the organization — from onboarding new hires to keeping supervisors and managers sharp on TCEQ/OSHA regulations.
  • Partner with the Safety Manager on cross-functional EHS programs, post and track KPIs, and build a culture of proactive compliance — not reactionary damage control.
  • Stay current with state and federal environmental laws and ensure the site never falls behind — or off track.

Qualifications & Required Skills

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 5–7 years of hands-on Environmental Program Management in a manufacturing or industrial setting (woodworking a major plus).
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field — or equivalent real-world experience that proves you know your stuff.
  • Understand NSR permitting, RCRA/DOT, and TCEQ STEERS like the back of your hand.
  • Spanish-speaking? That’s a huge plus for communication on our diverse production floor.
  • Certified in RCRA/DOT? Even better.
